Brooklyn Townsend is joining the ByrdAdatto team as our latest attorney after graduating from SMU Dedman School of Law and successfully passing the bar.
Brooklyn has already been a long-term member of the ByrdAdatto family — working as a law clerk since early 2020. “We are proud to see her progress and welcome her aboard as a full-fledged attorney helping our clients achieve their dreams in a complex and demanding regulatory environment,” said ByrdAdatto partner Michael Byrd.
In her day-to-day work as an attorney, Brooklyn helps establish compliant business structures for healthcare practices, making ground for innovation within the confines of state laws and regulations. Part of this complex process involves crafting governing documents for entity formations between multiple parties — including non-licensed entrepreneurs and physicians. She also assists clients by outlining the shares of ownership and those essential conditions for a successful partnership.
The most gratifying part of the job for Brooklyn is creating solutions. When it comes to healthcare and business law, many things could go wrong. But being able to find a way to navigate beyond those problems is a reward in and of itself.
When crafting those solutions for our clients, Brooklyn is a big proponent of using plain language in her agreements and counsel. “Sometimes an agreement or contract from another firm comes across my desk, and when I review it — it’s clearly not in any sort of plain language,” she said. “Even for me — with my legal education and background — I often wonder, ‘How could anyone even understand this?’ So, I’m a big proponent of clear language. It helps everyone involved.”
Before attending law school, she attained her Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Texas Tech University in 2018. Currently, she is a member of the Dallas Bar Association, the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers, and the Dallas Women Lawyers Association. Brooklyn enjoys Pilates, cooking, reading, and spending time with friends and family in her spare time. She also enjoys the occasional road trip around the country.
